梁振輝 香港資深出版人
2022年2月21日，香港資深導演楚原與世長辭，享年87歲。楚導演是粵語片時代著名演員張活游之子，退休前從事演藝事業凡40餘年——於不同時段內於電影、電視圈參與演員、編劇、導演的工作。最為人樂道的莫過於上世紀七八十年代執導了多部改編自古龍小說的武俠片，以及刷新香港票房紀錄的粵語片《七十二家房客》。
2018年4月，楚原在《香港電影金像獎頒獎禮》上獲頒「終身成就獎」；他在台上發言時道盡其人生觀；並於同年12月獲「香港天文台」邀請為《天氣一分鐘—縮時攝影比賽》的宣傳片配音，內容與先前發言略有所同。由於言詞精闢、發人深省，筆者特意於今期收錄了當中好大部分內容；與此同時，筆者夥同摯友George Chan來個英文翻譯本，以表對楚原一生榮耀的致敬：
呢個就係人生
That's life
你鍾意睇日出，定鍾意睇日落呢？
Sunrise or sunset, which do you like ?
日出話畀我知，隨時都可以係一個新嘅開始。
Sunrise lets me know it could be a new start any moment.
日落提醒我，好似去到終點，其實係另一個起點。
Sunset reminds me of an apparent ending, but actually it's another starting point.
今日個天係咁，唔代表個天聽日都係一樣。
Today the sky looks this way, it doesn't mean the sky is still the same tomorrow.
無論萬里無雲，定係雷電交加，天光一樣都係咁起身，
No matter no cloud in sight or thunder, you still get up in the morning.
一樣生活落去，一樣做返一個人。
Life still goes on and you are still a person.
人生有喜有悲，但係冇人話非喜即悲噃。
There are joy and sorrow in life, but the opposite of joy is not sorrow !
學識等待，你總會等到放晴嘅一日，
Learn to wait, sunny days are on the way,
因為明天總比昨天好，呢個就係人生。
as tomorrow is always better than yesterday, and that's life.

人生呢兩個字，就係歡笑同淚影四個字砌成嘅。
Life, in reality, is a mixture of joys and tears.
冇乜奇怪吖?
It made no surprise !
任何人無論你琴日幾風光，亦無論你琴日幾失意；
No matter how glorious or frustrated you were,
聽日天光嘅時候，你一樣要起身做返一個人，繼續生活落去；
you still get up in the morning and carry on,
因為明天總比昨天好，呢個就係人生！
as tomorrow is always better than yesterday and that's life !
到老嘅時候，
When getting old,
無論外面發生咩嘢事；
no matter what is happening around,
管他喜怒哀樂，管他恩怨情仇；
regardless of joy or sorrow, regardless of love or hatred,
全部都當佢菩提明鏡，笑下就算㗎啦！
just treat them as nothing, and laugh them off !
當你回首往事時，
When looking back,
不因碌碌無能而悔恨，
there is no regrets for being incompetent,
不為虛度年華而羞恥。
there is no shame of time wasted.
咁你就可以好驕傲咁同自己講；你，無負此生！
Then you can proudly tell yourself, "You, no regrets in life! "
就楚原的人生觀，筆者嘗試對以下兩個重點作出解讀：
非「非喜即悲」，是什麼狀況？
「喜」借指成就，那「悲」就是指不成器。他指出人應甘於淡薄、與世無爭——接受平平淡淡、平平無奇的事業和人生。奈何，沒曾爭過又何來無爭；爭過爭得到，到最後爭不了才會領略得到或被迫接受無爭的狀態；要是還可以爭，絕大部分人還會繼續爭下去，直至被環境淘汰為止。
學曉等待；明天總比昨天好！真的可以等待嗎？
當中明確認同「明天會更好」的理念，這是正面、樂觀的想法；但這畢竟屬主觀願望，時勢不就時就不要堅持，只怕希望愈大、失望愈大。
